We were excited and honored to publish an article all about ransomware for the Better Business Bureau last year, helping small business owners understand and avoid these terrible attacks. We can’t stress enough how critical disaster preparedness is to your business’s security. We run a small business too, so we understand how hectic things can get and how often tasks can slip through the cracks, but we assure you, it’s really important to keep up with your cybersecurity.

Ebooks and guides are awesome, but sometimes you just don’t have time to read them all the way through. It can also be hard to ensure that your employees read the eBooks and guides you share with them, which is a bummer because human error is the #1 threat to your business security.
That’s why we were pretty excited to discover the Cyber Readiness Institute, a free (nonprofit) resource built specifically to help small and mid-size businesses increase their cybersecurity awareness and tighten up their cybersecurity practices. The Institute’s 5-step program, launched in December, focuses on passwords, phishing, patching, and safe usage of USB drives, and they provide downloads that can help you educate your employees, create and implement useful security policies, and build a culture of cyber awareness.
Though, we admit, we haven’t yet had time to investigate the many resources available through the Cyber Readiness Institute, we’re pretty sure that, somewhere on their site, they recommend business continuity as an essential piece of your overall cybersecurity plan. If not, we’ll take this chance to make our own recommendation that you do so.

The 2018 Verizon Data Breach Investigation Report found that 58% of all data breach victims are small businesses, which means your company is at risk.
